A senior Administration Police officer was on Wednesday night shot dead and robbed of his possessions in Njiru estate in Ruai, Nairobi County.

Chief Inspector Anjers Kiwanuka, who was in charge of the Njiru Sub-County, was heading home accompanied by his son and a friend when they were attacked by robbers.

Kayole OCPD Ali Nuno said the thugs shot the officer in the head and chest before taking his pistol, which was loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, his wallet, phone and other valuables.

“They were accosted by the thugs as they returned home from a nearby bus station after seeing off a plumber who had gone to his house to do some repairs” Mr Nuno said.

Police suspect that the gunmen knew the officer as they mocked him when he fell down after the shooting.

Detectives have begun investigations into the incident that has brought to seven the number of people shot dead by thugs in different parts of the city in the past two days.
