Nairobi County Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh Tuesday formally withdrew her assault charges against Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.

Addressing journalists at the Parliament Police Station, Mrs Shebesh said that it was the instruction of the court that she withdraws the assault charges through the due process of the law.

“The withdrawal and forgiving Kidero that I did in church was unofficial, coming here to drop the charges is the process that will be recognised by law,” she said.

She further added that the investigating officer would be moving to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to inform him of their withdrawal.

Mr Keriako Tobiko will now be tasked with recognising the formal reconciliation of the two parties and drop the criminal charges he pressed against them.

The dropping of the charges was as result of a reconciliation agreement signed before their lawyers Tom Ojienda for Dr Kidero and Cecil Miller for Shebesh.

Last week, Dr Kidero who had filed a case on Ms Shebesh accusing her creating disturbance, withdrew his charges officially too at the Central Police Station in Nairobi.

On September 6m 2013 the two clashed where Shebesh claimed to have been slapped.

The incident happened when the Ms Shebesh led striking county workers to storm the Governor’s office.
