Speaker Justin Muturi unfit for office, says CIC chair Charles Nyachae

Speaker Justin Muturi is on the spot over plans to summon Cabinet Secretaries afresh.
The Commission on the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) Wednesday cautioned Mr Muturi against what it termed disobeying the Constitution.
CIC moved to court yesterday seeking orders to stop Parliament from summoning members of the Executive, a position supported by the Law Society of Kenya.
CIC boss Charles Nyachae said Mr Muturi is not fit to hold office and urged him to step down.
“Mr Muturi ought to be declared unfit to hold office over his remarks that Parliament would disobey court orders,” Mr Nyachae said.
“I want somebody to justify why the Speaker can say he will disobey a court order and still continue to hold office,” said Mr Nyachae.
Mr Nyachae who spoke yesterday during the Cheche Show on Citizen TV said courts must be obeyed at all time to avoid plunging the county into anarchy.
“Anyone disrespects the Constitution should he be eligible to hold office,” he posed.
Mr Muturi said fresh summons will be issued for ministers to appear before the General Oversight Committee on October 28.
