New bus for State House Girls as President Uhuru Kenyatta makes surprise visit

President Uhuru Kenyatta arrives at State House Girls High School in their new bus on July 25, 2014.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday made an impromptu visit to State House Girls High School with a new bus.

He rode to the school in the bus and arrived as the prize-giving ceremony, presided over by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, was going on.

The President then presented the keys to the principal, Mrs J.R. Muoti.

Earlier, during the ceremony, the students had recited a poem appealing to the First Lady to help them replace their "ageing" bus.

LAST VISIT

President Kenyatta had promised the students a bus during his last visit to the school.

“Toyota Kenya agreed to donate the 55-seater school bus, which I am happy to present to the school in fulfilment of my promise,” he said.

He urged the students to concentrate on their studies and improve on last year’s performance.

The school's management, led by board chairman Daniel Marube, and the principal thanked the President for the bus.
