At least three people died and others were injured on Wednesday when a mosque collapsed in Pate Island, Lamu County.
Lamu County Commissioner Njenga Miiri said the Jumaa mosque, which had been under renovation, caved in when worshippers were getting in for midday prayers.
There were five people who were already in, three of whom died on the spot, he said.
He said rescue operations were under way, adding that he had sent his deputy, Alexander Mativo, to the scene.
