SOFT TARGETS

Mr Kimaiyo said police were following crucial leads that would lead to the arrest of perpetrators last month’s double twin blasts in Mombasa and Nairobi.

Police have also ordered that all persons boarding PSVs should carry their identity cards or papers showing their citizenship.

“Proponents of terror are now resorting to directing their negative energy at soft targets. Care should therefore be taken to ensure that no one leaves their luggage unattended to avoid creating panic among the people,” he said.

Embu recorded the highest number of deaths at 43 while Makueni had 18 fatalities.

Already nine suspects have been arrested in connection with the supplying the killer brew.

“Over the weekend, officers in Tigoni managed to arrest four people and confiscate 483 drums of substance believed to be either ethanol or methanol that was meant for the preparation of illicit liquor,” he said.

He ordered for intensifying crackdown on all illicit brew dens countrywide and warned the police of being interdicted if they protected brewers.

The substance that was confiscated in Tigoni is currently being tested at the government chemist.
