DPP Tobiko okays Kethi Kilonzo charges

The Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has approved charges against lawyer Kethi Kilonzo.
State lawyers and Ms Kilonzo's counsel Julie Soweto agreed that the latter will present herself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for formal pre-charge processing on Monday.
She will be out on a police bond prior to appearing in court Tuesday to take plea, the parties further agreed.
Initially, Mr Tobiko wanted Ms Kilonzo charged Friday but Ms Soweto informed court her client was out of town.
The matter was heard before Lady Justice Lydia Achode.
Two weeks ago, Ms Kilonzo was interrogated by the police over allegations of theft and forgery of an electoral document.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) reported to the police that a voter’s slip she presented when seeking nomination for the Makueni Senate seat was stolen and details fraudulently written.
