Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko says the report on investigations into the Eurobond saga is incomplete.

He said the report the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has submitted has gaps that must be filled before he can decide on whether to close the matter.

Mr Tobiko said officials from his office have analysed the files and realised additional information is needed.

“The ODPP team noted some crucial areas that require clarification and or additional information before a definitive decision can be made on this matter,” Mr Tobiko said in a statement after a team he set up last week to check the files met with investigators from EACC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Friday.

REQUESTED CLARIFICATION

“The EACC/DCI team will address these areas and provide the requested clarification and or additional information requested and resubmit the file within 14 working days,” he added.

Last week, the anti-corruption agency suggested the files on individuals said to have had a hand in the alleged mismanagement of the money fetched from the sovereign bond be closed as no money was lost.

The EACC, after interviewing more than 30 government officials, also concluded that no laws were broken during the Eurobond transactions. The commission consequently advised the DPP to close the file.
