Top neuro-surgeon shot, robbed

A neuro-surgeon was shot and injured by gangsters on Sunday.

Dr Oluoch Olunya was accosted by three men on Windy Ridge Road in Karen.

“His car hit a bump and stalled. He stopped and opened the bonnet when a white car arrived. Three men attacked him and a shootout ensued,” police said.

The doctor is a licensed gun holder. He was shot in the back and robbed of two mobile phones and a wallet.

Dr Olunya headed the medical team that operated on Cord leader Raila Odinga when he was admitted to Nairobi Hospital to remove fluid in his brain in June 2010.

Meanwhile, the body of a man was found in a sack under a bridge in Kariobangi. Police said they had launched investigations into the death of the unidentified man.
