Over 160 petitions challenging nomination lists submitted to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) by political parties ahead of the General Election have been filed at the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal with an ODM member seeking nullification of all the names presented by the party.

NULLIFY

The tribunal has been asked to nullify the nomination of ODM’s director of elections Judith Pareno, nominated senator Agnes Zani, acting secretary general Karen Ongwen, wife of Oduor Ongwen, the chief executive officer of ODM, and Ms Beth Syengo a member of the selection panel.

The petition was filed by a Kisii County ODM member, Wenceslaus Gerald Kiriama.

REPLACED
In his claim through lawyer Jane Nyaboke, Mr Kiriama says he was proposed for nomination by the Kisii County branch as a Ward Rep but was surprised to find his name was replaced with that of Antira Ketora.

“The nomination exercise was not transparent, should be nullified and a repeat ordered,” Mr Kiriama states in his affidavit in support of his petition.

The petitions are being heard by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal chaired by Kyalo Mbobu.
