Uhuru, prominent EA leaders expected to attend Ntimama burial

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to lead prominent leaders across East Africa in paying their last respects to the late William Ole Ntimama.

Besides President Kenyatta, Cord leader Raila Odinga and Tanzania’s presidential loser and former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa.

About 50,000 people are also expected to attend the burial ceremony of the late cabinet minister who died on September 1 at around 10:30pm aged 87 years.

A close relative said the politician had complained of a headache shortly after dinner on the fateful day.

Mr Ntimama’s was last seen in public on August 22 when he endorsed Narok West MP Patrick Ntutu to vie for the governor seat in next year general elections.

He said he had decided to rally his supporters and the populous Purko clan to back Mr Ntutu after he portrayed good leadership qualities.

He will be buried on September 14 at his home.

On Sunday, the late Ntimama's home was being given a facelift ahead of his burial.

The rusting iron sheets of his house were given a new coat of paint as the compound was spruced up.
