Uhuru wants more troops in Somalia

President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked African countries to deploy more troops to Somalia to cushion Kenya Defence Forces from vicious Al -Shabaab attacks.
The President said Kenyan troops had been exposed by failure to deploy more Amisom troops to Gedo region, which he described as a perfect ground for the terrorist group to attack KDF.
“Of particular concern to us in Kenya is the curious absence of Amisom in the Gedo region. This region has now become a safe haven for Al-Shabaab and a launching pad for attacks against our troops and people along our common border with Somalia. It has become a critical soft belly for Kenya,” he told the Heads of State Summit for Amisom police/troops contributing countries taking place in Djibouti .
Currently Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Djibouti and Ethiopia have their forces under Amisom in Somalia.
