Union faults promotion of teachers

The teachers’ employer has been faulted for promoting only ‘a few’ in the just-concluded exercise.

Kenya National Union of Teachers Executive Committee member Geoffrey Mogire expressed disappointment with the Teachers’ Service Commission, describing the 800 school principals promoted as ‘too few’.

He further asked the commission to reveal the criterion used in promoting the teachers.

“We are disappointed and puzzled as to why only 800 principals out of the thousands who applied were promoted to Job Group P,” Mr Mogire told the Nation on Friday.

He noted that most teachers had stagnated in one job group for years with their predicament being in.

He also faulted the commission for delaying talks on their collective bargaining agreement, despite the president having approved it.
