Universities to shut city campuses

  • Mount Kenya University’s town campus will experience major disruptions in Continuous Assessment Tests that were scheduled for tomorrow.

Most universities with campuses in the city centre have been closed ahead of US President Barack Obama’s visit.

A spot check by the Nation, however, revealed that the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University’s town campus will remain open.

St Paul’s University’s city campus will remain closed.

Mount Kenya University’s town campus will experience major disruptions in Continuous Assessment Tests that were scheduled for tomorrow.

Associate Dean of Students Lucy Kibe said the students had expressed fears they would have problems going back home.

Closure of major roads has also led most Kenyans to keep off town during the US leader’s visit.
Motorists who use Mombasa Road will be the most affected today, since the road will be closed for use by President Obama after he lands at the JKIA.
