Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) chief executive officer John Muraguri, however said not all private universities have declared their capacities.

“We have a good number of private universities that want to admit these students. However some are still weighing the issue to see how it will work,” said Mr Muraguri.

He said the agency was working around the clock to ensure that by September 10, the concerned students receive information on institutions they will join.

Mr Muraguri also disclosed that most of the declared capacities in private universities are in art-related courses.

He assured students that private universities will ensure that they get good accommodation as well as address the challenge of culture shock.

Students who wish to study in private universities under the government sponsored programme started submitting their applications on Wednesday and the exercise will run until August 31.

Mr Muraguri said the candidate must have scored a B – of 56 and 57 points for girls and 58 and 59 points for boys.
