Woman charged with defiling schoolboy

A middle-aged woman was Wednesday charged before a Mombasa court for allegedly defiling an under-aged school boy.

Ms Pauline Nape was charged with defilement contrary to Section 8(1) as read with sub section 8(3) of the Sexual Offences Act number 3 of 2006.

She pleaded not guilty before resident magistrate Yator Viola who heard that the suspect committed the offence on March 3 at Soweto area in Likoni within Mombasa County.

The charge sheet further stated that Ms Nape intentionally caused an act of sexual intercourse by the minor, a student at a Likoni based private school.

She also denied an alternative count of committing an indecent act with a child contrary to Section 11(10 of the Sexual Offences Act Number 3 of the 2006.

She was released on Sh300,000 bond and surety of similar amount and her case is set for hearing on May 5,2014.

INFANTICIDE

Elsewhere, a court directed that a woman suspected of killing her seven-month old daughter be detained for three days to allow police complete investigation.

Senior resident magistrate Irene Ruguru ordered Pauline Nagulabu Nangolebei who is faced with a charge of infanticide of her seven-month old child be remanded at Changamwe Police Station to allow police conclude their investigations.
Police Constable Edward Chepsergon appeared before Ms Ruguru and sworn affidavit seeking the trial court to give him more time to investigate Ms Pauline over allegation of using kerosene to kill her daughter.

“We pray to have the suspect remanded at Changamwe police station for three days to complete investigation into allegation that she killed her daughter,” said Mr Chepsergon.

While granting the prayers, Ms Ruguru directed police to remand the suspect until Friday when she is expected to be brought back to the court for police to prefer charges against her.
