The third group of Kenyans evacuated from Yemen arrived home on Monday afternoon.

A chartered plane carrying the group landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi at 1.35pm, Director of Diaspora Affairs Washington Oloo said.

They were airlifted from the capital city of Sana’a.

With the security situation getting worse in the troubled Middle Eastern country, Kenya has so far evacuated about 52 of its more than 500 citizens living in Yemen.

Mr Oloo said the government would bring home all Kenyans stranded in the country.

“We have been stricken by numerous technical challenges but soon we will be through with the evacuation,” the director told the Nation by telephone.

The first batch comprising 16 people arrived home on Saturday morning, while the second of nine arrived on Sunday morning.

The nine were airlifted from Salala, a town in Oman, where they had been asked to relocate to ease their rescue.
