As the hunt for the Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony continues, it turns out that a celebrated American actress offered to lure and capture the seemingly elusive insurgent.

According to The Sunday Times of London, former ICC chief prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo in 2012 wanted Angelina Jolie to go to the Central Africa Republic act as a 'honey trap'.

Ms Jolie was to conduct the mission with the help of her estranged husband Brad Pitt.

A leaked e-mail sent by Mr Ocampo, asked Ms Jolie to invite Kony for dinner which eventually would have led to his arrest.

The prosecutor hoped that Ms Jolie would have gone to the warlord’s stronghold together with US Special Forces troops where it was believed that thousands of children are held captive.

However, the plan hatched by Ms Jolie and Ocampo never materialised.

In 2012, Ms Jolie referred to Mr Kony as ‘an extraordinarily horrible human being.’
