ADDIS ABABA
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Friday attended the handing over ceremony of the presidency of the Organisation of African First Ladies Against HIV/Aids (OAFLA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

At the ceremony, Mrs. Hinda Deby Itno, the First Lady of Chad took over the presidency from Namibia’s First Lady, Mrs. Penehupifo Pohamba.
This follows the election of Mrs. Pohamba at OAFLA’s last General Assembly in May this year. Mrs. Pohamba will be deputised by Rwanda’s First Lady, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame.

First Lady Margaret congratulated the incoming OAFLA President and presented her with a gift.

Established in 2002, OAFLA seeks to reinforce policies and programs against HIV/Aids through advocacy, resource mobilisation and development of partnerships with stakeholders at all levels.

The First Ladies ceremony took place on the sidelines of a special African Union Summit that started Friday.
