Kenyan robbery suspects arrested in US

Two Kenyans were arrested on Monday morning in Portland City, Oregon in the US for allegedly robbing a resident at gun point.

Mr Nash Muraya, 21 and Alex Ngatia, 20, were taken into custody by police who received information from eyewitnesses that the two had been seen driving away from the scene of the alleged robbery incident.

After being pursued by the police, the Kenyans, who were in the company of a woman, abandoned their vehicle to escape on foot.

But the police caught up with them. However the woman, who was found in their abandoned vehicle was set free.

Police reportedly found a gun used in the robbery near the alleged scene.

The Kenyans are expected to face robbery with violence charges.

According to the victim who not identified, he was meeting someone to buy gift cards but he was instead robbed at gunpoint and that his assailant took off in a speeding car, which had two other people inside.

“We were able to deploy a spike strip which hit the vehicle’s tyre, the driver turned off the lights and was driving recklessly just before the pursuit ended,” the police reportedly said.

Muraya and Ngatia met the description of the victim as well as other witnesses which led to their immediate arrest.
