JOHANNESBURG, Sunday

The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) has called for the expulsion of the Swaziland diplomats in South Africa.

The Africa Regional Secretary of the WFTU Mr Lulamile Sotaka said they need to put pressure on the South African government to expel the Swaziland ambassadors from the country.

WFTU represents 74 million workers from 210 trade unions in 105 countries.

“We are not proud to have them here because they represent genocide. They represent a murderer,” he said.

Mr Sotaka said for the past 41 years, the Swazis have been complaining about the undemocratic practices in their country yet their cries for total freedom have fallen on deaf ears.

He said as long as there are still atrocities in Swaziland, South Africa as a democratic country cannot be proud to accommodate the Swaziland public servants.

“We will never give up on the struggles of the people. The struggles of the people are our struggle as well. We want to put a stop on the genocide that is happening in Swaziland,” he said. He said the Swazis are dying silently, yet the monarch does not care.

“All he thinks about is the next aeroplane that he must buy, the next woman that he must abuse by the so called marriage. But the truth is he is abusing the children of the poor people in Swaziland, never caring whether their families are having a livehood. That thing must be stopped,” said Sotaka.

King Mswati III has 14 wives and he chooses a virgin bride during the Reed Dance in September.
