Sierra Leone president says Ebola worse than terrorism

Sierra Leone’s President Ernest Bai Koroma on Thursday said the west African Ebola outbreak was worst than terrorism and the world must consider it a threat to all.
Koroma was addressing the UN General Assembly via a video link from Freetown as he could not make it to New York.
Sierra Leone, one of three neighbours battling the deadly haemorrhagic fever, on Sunday concluded a controversial nationwide shutdown aimed at stemming the spread of the virus.
But that exercise only exposed the country’s inability to handle the epidemic.
Dead bodies are appearing daily and sick people rejected by treatment centres for lack of space.
Citing weak health systems in the region, Koroma said international support was needed to contain the spread of the disease which has claimed over 2,000 lives.
