John Cardinal Njue to preside over Swahili mass in US

The head of the Catholic Church in Kenya John Cardinal Njue is set to travel to the US for the Kenyan Catholic Community in America fourth anniversary celebrations.

Cardinal Njue will preside over a mass that will be conducted in Swahili at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bear, Delaware on August 15.

“As Kenyans living in the US, we are pleased to announce to the world that His Imminence, Cardinal John Njue, the head of the Catholic Church in Kenya has accepted our invitation to join us during the fourth annual celebration of the founding of the Kenyan Catholic Community in America,” said Francis Karani, who is a member of the organising committee.

Mr Karani said the Cardinal will be received by Senator Chris Coons, Delaware Governor Jack Markel, the Kenyan Ambassador to the US Mr Robinson Githae and the mayors of Newark and Wilmington.

He said the Kenya Catholic Christian Community was formed to bring the faithful together to celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

“The celebration draws together Catholics in the Diaspora and their friends living mostly on the Eastern Sea board of the US and brings then together in faith and evangelization,” he said.
