Information for Kenyans travelling to Brazil for World Cup

The Federative Republic of Brazil will be hosting the 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup, scheduled from June 12 to July 13.

The World Cup will be played in twelve different venues, namely; Belo Horizonte, Brasilia (Capital), Cuiabá, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sáo Paulo.

The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Brasilia has set up a help desk for Kenyans travelling to Brazil to attend the World Cup event as follows:

Additional Information

  1. Kenyans travelling to Brazil for the world Cup can also register online in the Embassy website www.kenyaembassybrazil.com.br, information regarding their locations and any challenges they face. This is at the Contact Us Section on the top-right side of the website.
  2. The Brazilian Government has set up Integrated Regional Command and Control centers in ALL the cities hosting the world cup games. This command and control centers will coordinate any emergency matters regarding visiting foreign nationals with their respective Embassies as and when need arises during the World Cup period.
  3. The Brazilian Government has released Tourist Security Guide booklets that will be useful for visitors during the World Cup period.
  4. The Brazilian Revenue Authority – Receita Federal, has published the Customs Guide for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, which will guide foreign delegations and their logistics providers on the tax benefits granted by the Brazilian Government for the temporary imports during the period. This guide book will also inform non-resident media professional about the luggage and professional equipment they can bring in to cover the event.

The customs guide is divided into sections

  1. Baggage for foreign delegations, non-resident media professionals and radio and television technicians.
  2. Import of goods under temporary admission for sports delegations,
  3. Import of cargo under temporary admission for the 2014 World Cup, and
  4. Rules for the importation of good and cargo by international courier.
