ATLANTA

Sauti Sol are set to perform in Atlanta on Saturday at an event dubbed Madaraka Day Jam.

According to one of the organisers, James Madafu, the band will perform during a daytime concert at 595 North Avenue Event Venue and Lounge in the heart of Georgia state capital.

“Doors open at 4pm and the show will go on until 9pm,” Mr Madafu, popularly known as MD, told the Nation in Atlanta on Friday afternoon.

“We are doing this matinee show in a deliberate attempt to accommodate all age groups. This is a family show and we want to show all Georgians that Kenyans too have their own genre and style of music,” he added.

Sauti Sol performed to a full house in Minneapolis, Minnesota last weekend when the group kicked off its US tour which will culminate in an appearance at the prestigious Black Entertainment Television (BET) awards slated for June 28 in Los Angeles, California.

The group has been nominated in the Best International Act category.

The award ceremony, designed to recognise African American and other minority artists, is in its 15th edition.

So far, Sauti Sol have performed in Minnesota, Washington DC, Dallas, Texas and are scheduled to stage a show in Seattle, Washington this Sunday.

The Atlanta event has been organised by DJs EXG and Fully Focus.
