CUE seeks Some’s replacement

University education regulator has kicked off the process of replacing its chief executive officer by calling on applicants to submit applications before April 7.

The new boss who will replace David Some at the Commission for University Education (CUE) must holder master’s degree from a university recognised in Kenya.

CUE chairman Prof Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha in an advert said the applicant must be an individual of high integrity who possesses at least 10 years’ experience in the management of a university.

“The appointment will be for a contractual period of five years renewable for a further five years subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement,” said Prof Chacha.

The successful candidate is being offered a competitive remuneration package and benefits in accordance with the Commission’s policies and guidelines.

The new chief executive officer will be tasked with ensuring that the Commission complies with the spirit and letter of the constitution and will lead in the process of regulation of the University education sector.

Prof Walter Oyawa the Deputy Secretary in charge of administration and finance has since been appointed to act after Prof Some proceeded on terminal leave early this week.

Prof Some confirmed that he will be retiring on September 4.
