Last day to report to secondary schools nears

Monday will be the last day for students selected to join secondary schools to report to their respective institutions.

Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association chairman Kahi Indimuli said few students have reported to most of the schools across Kenya so far.

“Reporting has been slow but we expect most of them to report on the last day which is Monday,” said Mr Indumuli.

This year a total of 790,680 students are expected to report to Form One compared to last year’s 759,603.

Schools are required to file returns after the conclusion of the exercise and replacement will only done at the Ministry of Education offices at Jogoo House.

The reporting dates for all Form One students started on January 9.

Last year a total of 942,021 candidates sat their Kenya Certificate Of primary Education examination.

A total of 24,795 students were selected to join 103 national schools while 65,331 joined extra county schools.

There were about 328 extra-county, 993 county, 6,982 sub-county and 980 private schools.
