Vetting board delivers judges' verdict

The judges and magistrates vetting board will Friday announce its verdict on the conduct of two Supreme Court judges.

The board, chaired by Sharad Rao, will rule on whether Justice Jackton Ojwang and Ibrahim Mohammed are fit to continue serving as well as eight other judges.

It will also deliver its verdict on the appeals lodged by four Court of Appeal judges who were declared unfit to continue serving two months ago.

The four, Justices Riaga Omollo, Emmanuel O’kubasu, Samuel Bosire and Joseph Nyamu sought for review of the decisions against them.

The Board made public its findings on April 25 when it declared the four judges unfit to continue serving in the judiciary.

The judges awaiting their fate today are, Martha Koome, Kalpana Rawal, Wanjiru Karanja, David Maraga, Hannah Okwengu, Roselyn Nambuye and  Kihara Kariuki.

The vetting had been temporarily stopped two months ago as the board sought the extension of their mandate from Parliament.
