Nyatike MP Edick Omondi Anyanga on Thursday became the second MP to be questioned by detectives in Migori County over the heckling at a meeting addressed by President Kenyatta.

The MP was grilled for several hours at the office of Migori CID county commander Violet Makhanu.

Mr Anyanga landed in a helicopter in Migori Town in the afternoon accompanied by Siaya Senator James Orengo and Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo.

The detectives sought to know his alleged involvement in the incident in which rowdy youths heckled and threw chairs and shoes towards the dais during the function at the Migori Primary School grounds.

The meeting was concluded in a hurry following the chaos.

The MP maintained his innocence regarding the incident, saying he did not have any link to the chaos.

STOOP LOW

He said he could not stoop so low as to plan to disrupt a function presided over by the President.

Mr Anyanga was grilled days after his Suna East counterpart Junet Mohammed was quizzed over the same incident.

CID county commander Ms Makhanu said investigations were still ongoing and that they would decide later on who to take to court with relevant charges.

“Our probe is still on because we want to put up a watertight case. We may interrogate more leaders as the investigations progress,” she said.

A fortnight ago, Nyanza Regional Commissioner Francis Mutie said five suspects arrested over the incident had named political leaders who had funded them.

“You are soon going to see high-profile arrests. We are not going to spare anybody, irrespective of his standing in the society and we have dependable leads into this matter, ” Mr Mutie had said.
