Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga has pleaded with Rift Valley voters to back his bid for the presidency in the next General Election.

He criticised the Jubilee government saying it had failed in its development agenda for the country.

Mr Odinga said much of the development projects Jubilee leaders promised to implement were just a pipe dream.

“They have done nothing. What we are witnessing is political posturing and chest-thumping,” Mr Odinga said.

He made the remarks when he joined other leaders at the Ndanai Catholic Church in Sotik Sub-County on Sunday to raise funds for the construction of the priest’s house.

More than Sh1 million was raised at the event, with Mr Odinga donating Sh500,000.

The Cord leader accused the Jubilee administration of squandering more than Sh140 billion Eurobond cash.

Mr Odinga said it was with this in mind that he has been making the Opposition criticise the government for not utilising public resources for their intended purposes.

He said most of the road projects in Rift Valley the Jubilee leaders are bragging about were planned by him while he served as the country’s Prime Minister.

He cited roads in Bomet, Kericho, Narok, Kisumu and Kisii counties as among those he had proposed for upgrading.

Mr Odinga said if elected he would do more for the region.

He urged the electorate to back his quest for State House to enable him to complete what he had set out to do for them.

Mr Odinga said there is no need for animosity among Kenyans, adding that leaders have a duty to build a “healthy and united nation devoid of tribalism”.
