Many leaders have failed to lead by example, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru says.

Ms Waiguru on Tuesday challenged the youth of Kenya to “redefine leadership amidst lack of people of integrity they can emulate”.

She urged university students to cultivate integrity and honour as they move into the next phase of career development and nation building.

“Whatever happened to the upright moral men and women we looked up to in society? I urge youth to work towards building an ethical society.

CIVIC DUTY

“Redefine leadership, governance and civic duty,” said Ms Waiguru during a public lecture to the fourth year students at the University of Nairobi.

Her remarks come in the wake of a report by the anti-corruption commission, implicating 175 public officers in corruption.

Ms Waiguru also urged students to participate in the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities scheme that sets aside 30 per cent of all government procurement business to youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
