Waiguru being primed for presidency - Keter

Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter now claims State House is grooming Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru for the presidential race in 2022.
Mr Keter said on Friday the signs “were clear” that Ms Waiguru was being prepared for the top job.
He spoke during a funeral service at Kitoben Village, Kericho County, at the home of Japheth Ruto, a brother of Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, who lost two children through a road accident.
“We have realised that the presidency is protecting CS Waiguru because some people are planning to have her run for Presidency in 2022.
“They are lying to our son, (Deputy President William Ruto) to be patient, while they are actually praying for him to be jailed by the ICC before the polls,” he said.
Whether true or not, the new allegation by the outspoken MP is likely to spark off a debate among URP supporters and may generate mistrust between members of DP Ruto’s United Republican Party and President Kenyatta’s The National Alliance Party (TNA), a few months before they are scheduled to fold up.
There is an agreement between TNA and URP that President Uhuru Kenyatta should stay in office until 2022, after which the President's central Kenya support base will in return back the DP for the position.

LIST OF SHAME

Mr Keter further claimed the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) omitted the name of the Cabinet secretary from the now infamous corruption List of Shame which President Kenyatta presented to Parliament earlier this year.

The EACC report linked several other CSs including Felix Kosgey (Agriculture), Davies Chirchir (Energy and Petroleum), Charity Ngilu (Lands) and Kazungu Kambi (Labour) to graft allegations and forced them to step aside to allow investigations to be carried out.

“The CS already had issues with the EACC before I started the impeachment motion, but for some reasons we do not know, did not appear in the EACC list of 175, which was brought to Parliament by the President,” he said.

He accused the Jubilee government of applying double standards in dealing with graft suspects, wondering loudly in his speech why CS Waiguru was being given special treatment.

In his speech in Kericho, Mr Keter said some of the reasons which were given to send the four Cabinet Secretaries home were “flimsy” compared with the millions of shillings said to have been lost at the Devolution ministry.

The first-term URP legislator termed the seemingly indefinite suspension of the four CSs as a political move meant to diminish the strength the party in the Jubilee coalition.
