Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has blamed Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the tribulations that pushed him out.

Mr Awiti said Mr Musyoka promised him that nominations would decide who between him and Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar would face Governor Hassan Joho in the August polls, but that never happened.

The MP said a meeting of 600 delegates to elect the flag-bearer was cancelled at the last minute.

“We held talks for several hours before the agreement was reached. But when it came to holding the delegates' meeting, Kalonzo betrayed me,” he said.

“When I asked what the problem was, I was told we were going to negotiate. Later, Omar was endorsed by some people and I said enough is enough and walked out,” he said.

He was speaking at Wild Waters Entertainment Park, where he was formally received by officials of the Vibrant Democratic Party.

Mr Awiti claimed Mr Omar had agreed to defend his Senate seat only for him to change his mind.
