Najib Balala calls outs Hassan Joho over Jubilee criticisms

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala on Wednesday evening called out Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho for his continuing criticism of the Jubilee government.

Mr Balala, a former ally of Mr Joho, accused the outspoken governor of making "too much noise" and "fighting many wars" with the government as development in the county stalled.

Speaking in Narok on Wednesday, Mr Balala defended President Uhuru Kenyatta and his government, saying its development record was evident.

“I have seen many projects in Narok that show that devolution is working, but in Mombasa the governor has made the county a noise-making arena - he is busy fighting the president and his deputy.

"In the last five years he has not initiated any development in the coastal county,” said Mr Balala.

Mr Balala was in Narok to close a three-week beadwork training workshop for women from seven pastoralist counties.

The minister, who was hosted by Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai, accused Governor Joho and the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) of being stumbling blocks to development in the coast region.

Mr Balala and Mr Tunai called on Kenyans to vote back the Jubilee government.

Mr Balala extended an olive branch to Mr Musyoka to join the Jubilee government, where he said the Wiper leader would be considered for a superior post after the polls.

“Nasa came with Musalia Mudavadi, [and] chances for people like the former vice president, Kalonzo Musyoka, to get a position are very slim. Come to Jubilee and you will get a position,” said Mr Balala.

Mr Tunai called on Kenyans to elect leaders and governments according to their development track records.
