A Bishop who hosted Deputy President William Ruto last weekend in Bondo, Siaya County was abducted by unknown people on Friday evening.

Bishop Johannes Angela of Bondo Diocese was on his way to Kaudi shopping centre when he was accosted by a gang in salon car.

Bishop Angela of ACK Bondo diocese was dumped in Sirende village in Gem sub-county on Saturday morning.

According to Deputy County Commissioner Samson Akatch, the five-man gang blocked the bishop’s vehicle at Kaudi junction on the Bondo-Kisumu road at 10pm.

He said two armed people jumped out of the car and one of them shot in the air.

“They approached the car and forced him into the boot of his Prado” Mr Akatch told journalists at the clergyman’s home in Bondo on Saturday.

The gang drove him to a thicket in Gem’s Sirende village and demanded that he discloses his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and MPesa pin number.

They tied his hands and legs and stuffed leaves into his mouth.

The clergyman regained conscious at around 1 am and was able to untie the ropes.

He sought help from a nearby home and reported the matter to the police.

The Deputy President attended a church service at Bondo Anglican Church in Cord leader Raila Odinga’s political bedrock, where he declared that he had no grudge against the former Prime Minister.
