Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has succeeded Eugene Wamalwa as the New Ford-Kenya leader.

The party's National Executive Council met on Tuesday to discuss who would replace Mr Wamalwa, who was recently nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Water and Irrigation Cabinet secretary.

With Mr Lusaka’s appointment, former Agriculture minister Kipruto arap Kirwa assumes his previous position of chairman.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Lusaka said it was necessary to reconnect with the electorate “so that we do not turn millions away”.

“This position to me is a call to serve and not to be served. I am a strong believer in servant leadership and I will indeed live up to this,” he said.

New Ford-Kenya is among the parties that had the highest number of its members appointed to various parastatals.

Among them are Soita Shitanda (chairman, Agricultural Development Corporation ), Musikari Kombo (chairman, Water Services Trust Fund), Joash Wamang’oli (chairman, Board of Directors of Nzoia Sugar Company Limited) and Raphael Wanjala (among the directors of Nzoia Sugar).
