Former President Daniel arap Moi has denied claims that he met President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, at State House in Nairobi last Wednesday.

In a statement to the Nation through his Press Secretary, Mr Lee Njiru, the former president maintained that there was no such meeting.

“Former President Daniel arap Moi said he never met President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, last Wednesday as claimed in yesterday’s Sunday Nation,” Mr Njiru said.

DID NOT DENY

“Mzee Moi termed the story a monumental falsehood and wondered what it was supposed to achieve,” Mr Njru added.

Government institutions had clearly defined communications channels and it was not prudent to use dubious sources, he said.

President Kenyatta’s spokesman, Manoah Esipisu, did not deny the meeting took place.

“The President hosts dozens of meetings every week as you may be aware, including with high-profile figures like the former Head of State.

“We don’t always discuss everything emerging from these meetings,” he said in a short message.
