Former presidential candidate Abduba Dida has welcomed President Kenyatta’s revocation of his appointment as the chairman of the Constituency Development Fund board.

Addressing the Press in Malindi Town Thursday, Mr Dida said the President had listened to the voice of the people and termed the move as a democratic one.

He said the Jubilee Government had found mistakes in two of the 50 slots it had put on the gazette notice.

The former teacher said he heard about the news of his revocation over the media while relaxing at home with his family.

He added that the government had committed a big mistake in considering him for the job without proper consultation and procedure but lauded the team for realising that it had wronged Kenyans.

“I am ready to offer service to Kenyans if am reinstated to the position as chairman but the rule of law must be followed,” said Mr Dida.

However, he cautioned leaders against uttering insults and mean words over his appointment and use the right channels to express their feelings.

He advised political parties to only issue consultative statements instead of each party member making their own individual reservations.

“Politicians should have discipline. How can a person abuse another yet we are all Kenyans?” wondered Dida.

He said people should emulate the manner in which former prime minister Raila reacted on the matter.

Dida was on a tour of the Coastal region to meet Muslim youths who are said to be defying their religious leaders and engaging in illegal activities such as drug abuse. He will today (Friday) tour Tana River and Lamu counties to talk to more youths.
