Thirdway Alliance Kenya presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot has called on Nasa leader Raila Odinga to participate in next week poll if he respects the Constitution.

Dr Aukot said it was hypocritical for Mr Odinga to claim that he respects the Constitution and yet he is working tirelessly to disrupt the repeat polls after withdrawing from the race.

“If you are a leader who respects the Constitution, let us hold this election on October 26, the Constitution says that elections must be held within 60 days,” he said.

Dr Aukot said the decision by Mr Odinga to withdraw from the race was an indication that he was tired of the political journey, adding that he was within his democratic right to withdraw but should not interfere with those who want to participate.

“We cannot change the Constitution and reschedule the polls beyond October 26,” he said.

Dr Aukot also warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against messing up with the repeat poll, saying it has cost tax payers billions of shillings.

He challenged the electoral agency to address Kenyans on the measures it has put in place to rectify the illegalities in the nullified August polls to avoid a repeat of the same.
