The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) is investigating some county government officers over corruption claims.

Commission chairman Mumo Matemu said on Thursday that a number of them would be arraigned in court in the next two months to answer charges on diverse malpractices.

“We are studying files from the affected counties and soon you will see people in court,” Mr Matemu said at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi during round-table discussions organised by the University of Nairobi for senators and scholars.

THE RULE OF LAW

He said the law would be applied uniformly irrespective of one’s position or status in society and asked those granted the opportunity to serve Kenyans to uphold the rule of law.

Mr Matemu said the commission had formed County Advisory Boards to create awareness about constitutional requirements as a deliberate measure to promote efficient delivery of services to residents.

So far, EACC teams have visited 12 out of the 47 counties and shared information on best recruitment methods and the need for counties to incorporate the marginalised, disabled and observe gender equity in recruitment.
