Governor issues stern warning to workers

Garissa Governor Nathif Jama Adam has asked civil servants in the county to ensure they give speedy and efficient service delivery to the people.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with senior civil servants, Nathif said he expects each staff member to give value for the money they earn in salary.

The governor said one year into devolution, it will no longer be business as usual for those who do not perform. He hinted he would crack down on county workers who perform below expectations.

“Those who do not wish to work properly, in the way we want them to work, and do not care about the county which employs them have an option -quit.”

He said professionalism and adherence to ethics including the dress code is the core aspect of his administration, warning that absenteeism from work without any genuine reasons will not be tolerated.

The governor said all workers should be proud to be associated with the government and deliver services in line with the set goals and manifesto of his administration.

He said key performance indicators for workers will be carried out on a monthly basis with the Deputy Governor Abdullahi Hussein tasked to coordinate government business in all the county departments.
