Governor reshuffles cabinet, defends county performance

  • Meanwhile, Governor Jama did a mini-reshuffle of his Cabinet where Ms Hubi Hussein Al-haji will now be in charge of Health and Sanitation, Ms Saphia Sheikh Omar, Agriculture, Irrigation Services and Fisheries while Mr Hajir Mohamed Dahiye was moved to Livestock and Pastoral Economy.

Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has came out strongly to defend his government over claims of truancy by his officials.

The governor said he will not take lightly allegations that his is a briefcase administration whose operations stall whenever he goes out of the county.

He asked the public to report to him directly if they do not get service in any office due to staff absence during official working hours.

“People are talking of briefcase government which is not true. If there is any official abandoning duty without genuine reasons let me know,” said Mr Jama on Friday.

He was launching the distribution of wheelchairs, sanitary pads and sewing machines to deserving county’s people.

Mr Jama said his administration will give necessary support to people living with disability in the county and immediately announced the appointment of Mr Ahmed Siyat, a person with dwarfism, to his government.  

The governor urged parents not to hide children with disability but take them to school.

MINI-RESHUFFLE

Meanwhile, Governor Jama did a mini-reshuffle of his Cabinet where Ms Hubi Hussein Al-haji will now be in charge of Health and Sanitation, Ms Saphia Sheikh Omar, Agriculture, Irrigation Services and Fisheries while Mr Hajir Mohamed Dahiye was moved to Livestock and Pastoral Economy.

The Directorate of County Affairs will now be under the Finance, Revenue and Economic Planning with Mr Abdihakim Sheikh Dayib remaining boss.

Mr Idriss Mukhtar will be in charge of Youth, Sport, Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development and co-operatives while Mr Ahmed Aden Hire remains boss of Roads, Public Works, Lands, Housing and Physical Planning.

Bernard Wambua Nzau was appointed as the County Head of Procurement replacing Mr Mohamed Bare Aden.

Mr Nzau, an experienced civil servant, will be the secretary to the County Central Tender Committee whose members are Dr Sofia Mohamed Ahmed, Abdikadir Sugow Ahmed, Abdullahi Diis Hussein, Mohamed Hassan Mohamud,Rahma Dekow Omar, Abdinasir Sheikh Yussuf and Roble Said Nunow.
