ICC: Ruto case fails to take off

The trial of Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua arap Sang failed to take off after the weekend break.

The trial is however expected to resume today, they said.

“Today’s (Monday) hearing in the Ruto and Sang trial has been cancelled and hearings will resume tomorrow (Tuesday), unless otherwise decided by the Chamber,” they said.

FORCIBLE TRANSFER

Mr Ruto and Mr Sang are facing crimes against humanity charges for the 2008 post-election violence that led to the deaths of at least 1000 people, with 650,000 others being rendered homeless.

Mr Ruto on the other hand has been accused of being criminally responsible as an indirect co-perpetrator for the crimes against humanity of murder, deportation or forcible transfer of population and persecution.

Mr Sang, on the other hand is accused of having contributed to the commission of the similar crimes as the Deputy President.

Witness P-323 is expected to take to the stand.
