The Opposition should field Kalonzo Musyoka as its Presidential candidate in 2017, Wiper MPs have demanded.

Speaking at Uthini ABC Church in Kawethei, Kangundo, in Machakos County, the MPs on Sunday said 2017 will be Mr Musyoka’s turn as he supported his co-principal in the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy Raila Odinga.

The leaders made the calls amid concerns that Mr Odinga’s absence in the country had left the Opposition rudderless. The Former Prime Minister is in the US. (READ: Raila extends US tour by a month)

Mbooni MP Kisoi Munyao said the coalition should give Mr Kalonzo the Presidential ticket in the next General Elections due to his support for Mr Odinga in 2013.

He also defended the Minority Leader, Mr Francis Nyenze, against accusation that he was not offering proper leadership in Parliament. (READ: Misfiring coalition fails to check government)

“The position held by minority leader Francis Nyenze belongs to Wiper as per the coalition agreement,” he said.
