Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was on Thursday interrogated by police after he was recorded telling young people in his constituency to attack with pangas those opposed to National Youth Service (NYS) projects.

The MP arrived at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters on Kiambu Road at 10am and walked out four hours later.

“Am here because I was summoned and record a statement. The truth will set me free and I hope justice will be done,” said Mr Kuria.

The MP said he apologised over the remarks.

Addressing journalists outside the DCI headquarters, Mr Kuria said National Cohesion and Integrity Commission (NCIC) chairman Francis Ole Kaparo should investigate other leaders that he claimed had incited the public.

"He (Kaparo) should be cognisant that he is leading a constitutional commission and should also be on the case of others,” he said.

Mr Kuria has been under fire over the remarks with the NCIC, legislators and the Cord coalition calling for stern action against the MP for his inflammatory statements.

DPP Keriako Tobiko has said he will file a case to cancel a bond given to the MP in a case where he is charged with hate speech.
