Cord leader Moses Wetang’ula and Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale have criticised President Kenyatta over the appointment of parastatal chiefs saying it did not reflect the face of Kenya.

The two leaders who spoke at various markets in Bungoma County during rallies to thank voters for re-electing Mr Wetang’ula as Senator, said those picked were cronies of President Kenyatta and his deputy, Mr William Ruto.

Mr Wetang’ula said the appointments were unconstitutional, adding that reforms in parastatals would be frustrated by “the same old faces”.

“The President should know that he leads the entire country that has 42 tribes and not only two communities that have dominated public appointments,” he said.

DESERVED SHARE OF JOBS

All Kenyans deserved a share of government jobs as envisaged in the Constitution, Mr Wetang’ula said.

“Kenya remains one united country and we should resist attempts by the top political leadership to divide us along ethnic lines,” he said.

Dr Khalwale said other communities in the country were keenly watching the unfolding events and would not support Jubilee for another term.

“They should forget the 10 years they have been bragging about,” said Dr Khalwale. “They only have four years left before the people of Kenya elect a new government.”

Dr Khalwale said he would team up with Mr Wetang’ula to put the government on its toes. “There are already serious audit queries that have been raised regarding the railway tender and we want to critically look at the whole process,” he said.
