Two MPs have criticised Jubilee governors who are part of county bosses pushing for a referendum.

Tigania West MP David Karithi (TNA) and his Endebess counterpart Robert Pukose (URP) challenged the county bosses to explain to Kenyans the real agenda behind the call for the referendum.

Mr Karithi said the move by Jubilee governors was tantamount to supporting the Coalition for Reform and Democracy (Cord).

“How can always keep the country in a state of politicking? The government has only been in power for one and a half years and yet some members of the ruling coalition want to stagnate national development. It is unacceptable,” said Mr Karithi.

On Friday, governors named a team to spearhead their push for the constitutional changes that they say will strengthen devolution.

The team, that will spearhead the push for the referendum, comprises of 15 governors and six experts.

The committee will be chaired by Meru governor Peter Munya.

Speaking during a funds drive at Kibuline Secondary in his constituency, Mr Karithi asked Mr Munya to resign.

Dr Pukose accused the governors of promoting the interests of the opposition and asked them to give the government the opportunity to deliver its promises to Kenyans.

“Jubilee governors should be very cautious and not fall for the referendum call by Cord,” said the Endebess MP.
