Memusi Kanchory wins Kajiado Central ODM nomination

  • Mr Kanchory decamped from the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) after coming in second in the nominations.

Memusi Kanchory will represent ODM in the Kajiado Central parliamentary by-election after winning party nominations.

Mr Kanchory garnered 9,523 votes while Silau Olarasha Paita came second with 1,497 votes.

Simon Peter was third with 503 votes followed by Dr Naomi Kipuri (367) and Pail Ole Kaika (288).

The results were announced early Thursday morning at the Maasai Technical Training Institute.

ODM Secretary-General Ababu Namwamba was present.

“We have conducted a free, fair and peaceful nomination and this will represent the new face of ODM led by youthful members from National Executive Council and also the Orange Democratic Movement secretariat,” Mr Namwamba said.

In his victory speech, Mr Kanchory asked his opponents in ODM to unite to ensure they recapture the seat left vacant following the resignation of Maj-Gen (rtd) Joseph Nkaissery, who was appointed Interior Cabinet secretary.

Mr Kanchory decamped from the Jubilee Alliance Party after coming second in the nomination.
