  • The MP garnered 8,900 votes against Mr Akali’s 7,996 while Ms Judy Kamaria got 3,201 votes according to returning officer Phillip Okong’o.
  • A witness, Mr Joseph Mbogo, said the two were stabbed using a knife and then one of them hit by a car while they were crossing the road to escape from the attackers.

A man died and another was seriously injured when they were stabbed by supporters of a parliamentary aspirant in Pangani, Nairobi.

The two were posting campaign posters on a wall between Pangani Girls High School and Mlango Kubwa at 6.30 am when a rival group attacked them.

A witness, Mr Joseph Mbogo, said the two were stabbed using a knife and then one of them hit by a car while they were crossing the road to escape from the attackers.

“I was in my shop serving a customer when the attackers accused the two young men of pasting over the posters of their candidate,” Mbogo said.

He said the group started beating the young men and one man drew a knife and struck. They run away but as they were crossing the road, one of them was hit by a car.

BEATING WOMEN

Nairobi County Police Commander Japheth Koome said the police have been directed to prevent youth from campaigning.

The injured man is at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Elsewhere in Eastleigh, the police officer who was last month accused of extrajudicial execution was accused of entering the home of Eastleigh Airbase Ward Rep, Martin Mugo and beating women and children.

The officer was recorded on video by one of the victims, using a green pipe to rough up people at the home, claiming that ballot papers and boxes had been hidden there.

Mr Mugo’s wife, Fauziah Chepngenoh, alleged that the officer and five other youths entered the home and ordered everyone to lie down and started beating those that defied the orders.

“They said that my husband had stolen some papers and hid them. They even went to the bedroom and searched for them but they did not find anything,” she said.

SET A BLAZE
In Nyanza, the house belonging to Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo was set ablaze on Wednesday as protests erupted in Homa Bay and Kisumu town over the ODM party nominations.

Ms Odhiambo’s home in Koyani village in Lambwe was burnt due to what residents claimed was rivalry between her and businessman Jim Akali Agembe, an aspirant for the seat who she beat. Mr Akali denied it.

In Kisumu town, police used teargas to disperse youths protesting the award of the ODM ticket to Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura.

The youths argued that Mr Obura had been rigged in at the expense of Gem Central MCA Fred Ouda.

Mr Obura got 24,601 against Mr Ouda’s 13,613 votes. Mr Oloo came in 2third with 5,790 votes.

OUDA WON
Mr Ouda is a diehard supporter of ODM leader Mr Odinga. Protesters at Kamas in Kisumu on Wednesday said Mr Ouda won.

Mr Joachim Okoth said they are going to hold the party responsible if they do not announce Mr Ouda as the MP.

“We are watching. We want to see if they will hand the certificate to Obura. We know he is a close ally of Raila family,” said Mr Okoth.

Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma and supporters protested the win of Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o for the ODM governorship ticket.

Mr Nyong’o got 164,110 votes against Mr Ranguma’s 91,480 amid controversy.
