Former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi has criticised Cord party leader Raila Odinga, accusing him of undermining other leaders in the country.

The two leaders have differed over the Bungoma by-elections where Mr Odinga is supporting his co-principal in Cord Moses Wetangula’s bid to defend the seat while Mr Mudavadi is campaigning for former nominated MP Musikari Kombo.

In a statement dispatched to newsrooms Tuesday, Mr Mudavadi expressed concerns about Mr Odinga recent utterances while on a campaign trail in Bungoma.

“He has alleged that I and my colleagues in Amani Coalition are using the Bungoma by-election to gain favours from government. Yet Raila is on record lobbying for an appointment as a mediator in the same government,”Mr Mudavadi claimed.

The UDF leader further accused Mr Odinga of trying to block Western region from benefitting from the government development by agitating for continuous resistance against the State in the area while encouraging his Nyanza backyard to cooperate with the Jubilee government.

Mr Mudavadi also accused Mr Odinga of engaging in an imperial disguise to divide the people of Western Kenya but warned that his tricks have been exposed.

CONDESCENDING ATTITUDE

“A new dawn and consciousness has emerged out of the March 4 elections. He must check his condescending attitude,”Mr Mudavadi stated.

Mr Odinga has reportedly claimed that the Amani coalition led by Mr Mudavadi was confused and politically rudderless.

“Deceit and doublespeak is not attractive to me; Raila welcomes President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nyanza with open arms, but tells the people of Bungoma not to work with government. Is there a Kenyatta government for Raila and a Raila colony for the Bungoma people?”Mr Mudavadi wondered.

Over the weekend first lady Margaret Kenyatta was in Siaya where local leaders led by Homa Bay County Governor and Alego Usonga MP Omondi Mulwan said they are ready to cooperate and work with the Jubilee government to develop the poverty-ridden Nyanza region.
